It is crucial to recognize that shipping a vehicle from India is not an inexpensive endeavor. If you anticipate managing this for merely 100 USD, it is imperative to reassess your expectations. Depending on the scope of work required from our team and our associates, the total cost may exceed 1000 USD. While the actual freight aspect is relatively straightforward, the accompanying documentation is considerably more intricate.
India – Key Considerations:
- Who will be responsible for packing the vehicle?
- Who will manage the necessary paperwork? We require someone to assume responsibility.
- Who will transport the vehicle to the shipping warehouse?
- Who will load the vehicle (whether packed or not) onto the truck for delivery to the warehouse?
- The shipper must provide a police report pertaining to the vehicle prior to shipment.
- Does the shipper possess an IEC exporter number? If not, our agent may need to facilitate this at an additional cost, or you may need to designate your own representative to finalize the paperwork for submission to the agent.
UK – Import Regulations:
- When importing, we must ascertain the age of the vehicle to determine its classification as a classic vehicle.
- Be aware that all vehicles, including those personally owned and not intended for resale, may incur Duty and VAT based on the vehicle's value.
- All imported vehicles must be registered with the UK NOVA System before they can be legally operated on UK roads.
- Furthermore, all imported vehicles are required to undergo a SUPER MOT to ensure compliance with UK road regulations. The vehicle will be delivered to the importer’s location via truck.
- If we are delivering the vehicle to you, unless a specific request for a special vehicle has been made, it will be the importer's responsibility to unload the vehicle from the truck.
At Motozride Travel and Export, as the freight forwarder, we do not assume responsibility for NOVA registration or the SUPER MOT; these obligations rest with the importer. We often receive inquiries regarding payment to the seller in India, and we offer the following guidance:
- Do not remit any payment until you possess verified evidence of the machine intended for sale.
- A deposit followed by the balance against shipping documents constitutes acceptable payment terms. This ensures that something has been shipped prior to full payment.
- Has the supplier previously engaged in exporting activities?
- For new motorbikes, it is essential to confirm with the dealership that they are legally permitted to export. Often, new vehicles face restrictions regarding who is authorized to conduct the export.
